Brown tumors (BT) consist of focal bone lesions, caused by increased osteoclastic activity and fibroblastic proliferation. They appear in chronic kidney disease (CKD) as a result of renal osteodystrophy with high bone turnover, due to secondary hyperparathyroidism.
